Song: Wildlife
THE SONG DEMO SERIES: #8. Written, performed and visualised by Robert Gowty.
Wildlife
Wildlife. Wildlife. Wild child, wild wife.
[Refrain]
The water and trees and the leaves in the breeze
and the water and the trees and the leaves in the breeze
Wild river, flowing to the sea. Wild stars, circling over me.
[Repeat Refrain]
Here is the lamp that I shone in the dark
To find the way when the world fell apart (fell apart)
Wild country. Wild dream. Drinking water, from the stream.
[Repeat Refrain]
Wild devils. Black cockatoos. Scorpions and kangaroos.
[Repeat Refrain]
Here is the knife that cut through the chord
To bring me back to the things I ignored (I ignored)
Wildlife. Wildlife. Wild fortunes, balanced on a knife (on a knife)
Author’s Note
I’ve been seeing a lot of notes on Substack about how easily creative types get distracted. What you’re working on now never seems as exciting as that flash of lightening that occurs when a new idea hits.
So I’ll simply say, I have more than enough projects on the go at the moment so any new brainwaves will need to be incorporated into an existing projects. Having recently had a discussion with May More about the magnificent black cockatoo, this song seemed like a good opportunity to work in some of my black cockatoo photos. They are about in Tasmania, but nowhere near as plentiful as the ubiquitous sulphur-crested white cockatoo.

Fantastic as usual, Robert, and great lyrics. I don't think I've ever seen pictures of the black cockatoo. It's beautiful.
Black cockatoos are beautiful, but christ they'll give you a headache!
