I've loved all the songs you've posted, but this is perhaps my favorite. I love the little riff when the music changes; I guess you'd call it the chorus. Outstanding work.
Thanks again! While the lyrics haven’t changed much, it’s the music that has arrived somewhere different and I love the details you’re seeing. Nothing to do but keep going!
Clarinet, bassoon and drums (military) at school. Probably got my first guitar in late high school. I had a couple of bands, both rock and electronic. A gig or two here and there, but I never found anyone I was really compatible with. Like the bass player who wanted to put slap bass of everything. It was never really going to work. Kind of incredible when you think Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison all went to the same school!
The last tentative “public” effort was around 2000. Same problem. I like certain genres of music, but when it comes to playing, some people can really get bogged down it that. Jazz purist, or whatever. Not my thing.
Just been playing in the lounge room ever since. And now with all this digital tech like DAWs, I’ve decided to have another crack at “the vision”.
I don't have that level of experience, but I felt the same. It's really hard to find people who live relatively close who have the same musical vision. I do wish I got into a music scene when I was younger though.
But maybe this was how it was all meant to happen...
Keep going with the vision, looking forward to the album!
I love the airy feeling in the music, vocals and corresponding video. Reminds me a little of some Brit sounds, The Verve, The Kinks, etc. Excellent lyrics too!
It's incredible how 5+ minutes of time lapse with the juxtaposition of the prescribed burn against the clouds opens my mind to your lyrics. A free mind...
It’s been a fascinating excavation project. Recording the music, then going through the video archive to see what I’ve got that fits. I’m appreciating the feedback so much that I’ve actually gotten off my arse and ordered a new battery for my Go Pro which has been dead for a while.
I didn't think it was smoke; my brain went, "Look, there's a cloud kissing the ground."
I blame that on your beautiful song.
It's really remarkable.
Ha! That’s really a beautiful image. Like Jimi Hendrix in reverse!

What's your musical background, Robert? Did you play in bands?

Thanks Steffany, what a wonderful comment. I grew up on those Brit sounds, the Kinks especially have a big place in my record collection.
Great guitar sound too I forgot to say!
Thanks! The more I play, the more I want to play!

Excellent!
